2015 Massachusetts SuperLawyer

Rod Johnson was again selected to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers list as one of the top IP attorneys in Massachusetts for 2015.  No more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selctected for inclusion by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business.  This is Rod's 10th appearance on the list since being founded in 2004.

Instructor/Tutor for WIPO Academy

For the thrird year, Rod served as an instructor/tutor for international students through the WIPO Academy in Geneva, Switzerland.  Rod helped teach a distance learning program in Basics of Patent Drafting and was directly responsible for tutoring 26 students.  The WIPO Academy offers many other IP courses and has partnerships with a number of universities.

Allen B. Downey Named 2012 UCES Award Winner

Prof. Allen Downey of Olin College was named a 2012 winner of the Undergraduate Computational Engineering and Sciences (UCES) Award Program for his Complexity Science and Computational Modeling Class.

Website Goes Mobile

The Johnson IP Law Firm website has been updated to include some improvements to the full website and to add a dedicated mobile website for smartphone users.

The new mobile-optimized website serves basic content in a simplier format for smartphones.  The content should load quickly and all text should be readable on smaller screens.  In addition, thumb-friendly buttons have been added to ease phone and e-mail contacts.  The mobile site can be reached by visiting m.johnsoniplaw.com or—for easier thumbing—m.rdjip.com.  It can also be reached from the Main Menu on the left.

2011 WIPO-ARIPO Regional Workshop on Patent Drafting

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe — October 17-21, 2011

At the invitation of WIPO and ARIPO, Rod Johnson was honored to serve as a co-instructor on patent drafting at the Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.   Participants included scientists, engineers, attorneys, and government officials from 18 African countries.  This was Rod's second appearance at the workshop, the last being at ARIPO headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe in 2009 (see below). 

While visiting Victoria Falls, Rod took a few extra days to see some of the local scenery and to experience some unique adventures.  The scenery included the world's largest waterfalls and an engineering tour of the Victoria Falls Bridge, one of the world's top bungee jumping destinations.  Rod especially enjoyed "Walking With Lions" and an elephant safari.  Some vidoes have been posted on the JohnsonIPLaw YouTube channel.

2009 WIPO-ARIPO Regional Workshop on Patent Drafting

Harare, Zimbabwe — October 14-20, 2009

At the invitation of WIPO, Rod Johnson served as a co-instructor on patent drafting at ARIPO headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe.   Participants included scientists, engineers, attorneys, and government officials from ten African countries.  Rod describes this exciting experience in the February 2010 issue of the BPLA Newsletter.
